WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman and five-star sponsor 3M have teamed up to create the 3M Play to Win Award to honor one of the region’s deserving student-athletes.

Coaches, parents, guardians, friends and others can nominate students in fifth through eighth grades for the award at www.militarybowl.org/3M. The Military Bowl and 3M are looking for student-athletes who have some or all of these qualities:

  • Passionate about football and displays team spirit
  • Has demonstrated the abilities to innovate, take initiative and overcome challenges and/or dealt with adversity
  • Has a parent who serves or has served in the military
  • Lives in the greater Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area

“It’s a privilege for 3M to sponsor the 3M Play to Win Award as a tribute to today’s young student-athletes and future leaders,” said Skip Driessen, marketing operations manager, 3M Government Markets. “We take pride in the community and being a partner with the long-standing tradition of the Military Bowl that exemplifies the importance of supporting our military families.”

The Military Bowl and 3M will choose one nominee monthly during the football season to receive a pair of complimentary game tickets to the Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman on Thursday, Dec. 28 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. In December, one nominee will be selected as the 3M Play to Win Award winner and will receive a prize package.

“This is a unique opportunity to be able to honor one of the region’s top young student-athletes,” said Steve Beck, Military Bowl president and executive director. “The Military Bowl, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary, and 3M are committed to the National Capital Region and its community and we are proud to partner on this award.”
