DC Bowl Committee announces initial sponsorships for 2012 Military Bowl

Washington, D.C. – The DC Bowl Committee today announced sponsorships supporting the 2012 Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman, benefiting the USO. Events DC, Marriott, NewDay USA, Northrop Grumman Federal Credit Union, DRASH, Long Fence, Dow Lohnes Sports & Entertainment and Destination DC return as sponsors, while LivingSocial, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Marine Corps Recruiting Command, Velocity 5 and YellowFlag are on board for the first time. Comcast SportsNet, WJLA/ABC7 and 106.7 the Fan return as media partners.

“The Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman is a nonprofit that raises funds and awareness for the USO to benefit our troops,” Military Bowl President & Executive Director Steve Beck said. “We do this by selling tickets and developing key sponsorships. Our partners enable the game to grow and allow us to increase funding for the USO. Having such terrific partners for the community and the bowl is what makes our event so special.”

Since the game’s inception five years ago, Events DC has been the bowl’s biggest financial contributor and continues to serve as a host and promotional partner. Northrop Grumman returns for the third year as the bowl’s title sponsor. NewDay USA is the official sponsor of the Military Bowl’s reception for Medal of Honor recipients on Dec. 28. LivingSocial will host an exclusive end zone hospitality experience for fans at the game. Marriott, which has partnered with the Military Bowl since the first game in 2008, returns as the game’s official hotel partner. Teams will stay at the Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel and the Renaissance Washington, DC Downtown Hotel. Media and overflow lodging is available at the JW Marriott Washington, DC Hotel, which will also serve as the bowl headquarters.

Once again, the Military Bowl will give at least $100,000 to the USO and provide 5,000 tickets for active-duty military and their families.

The fifth annual Military Bowl kicks off Dec. 27 at 3 p.m. at RFK Stadium. Ticket prices start at $25. The popular Military Village returns this year, along with the pregame tailgate on the DC Armory Mall. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit militarybowl.org.
