MILITARY BOWL 2019 GAMEDAY ELEMENTS

The MILITARY BOWL OFFICIAL TAILGATE starts at 9 am in the Blue parking lot on the west side of the stadium, with music, entertainment, military displays and more with food/beverages available for purchase.

The MILITARY BOWL PARADE, featuring the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales, eight Medal of Honor Recipients and including more than 70 entries, kicks off at 9 am at City Dock and proceeds to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Navy Federal Credit Union is a  sponsor of the Military Bowl Parade. The PARADE GRAND MARSHALL is the newly-crowned Miss America 2020, Camille Schrier.

The MEDAL OF HONOR/USO RECEPTION is from 9:30 to 11:30 am in the N* Banquet Room on the first floor of the press tower. Media are welcome to attend.

Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 11:30 am when the PREGAME PAGEANTRY begins. The pregame pageantry is sponsored by Dell Technologies and Future Tech Enterprise Inc. DJ KORUPT, who spins in the hottest spots in D.C., will be entertaining fans throughout the game.

  • TEAM FASTRAX PARACHUTE JUMP TEAM consists mostly of military veterans from the Rangers, Special Forces and Airborne units who have combined to make more than 300,000 skydives. GE Aviation is the sponsor of the parachute jump. Today’s jump is dedicated to Air Force Capt. David Lyon, who died Dec. 27, 2013, while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom. Today’s jumpers are:
    • Landing first and bringing in today’s Game Ball is John Hart II, a U.S. Army Special Forces veteran.
    • Landing second with the five flags of the United States armed forces is Nicole Condrey, a 15-year veteran of U.S. foreign service.
    • Landing with the Honor and Remember Gold Star flag (with the signatures of more than 300 Gold Star Families in memory of lost loved ones) is Larry Compton, who has performed more than 6,000 skydives over his 23-year skydiving career. Larry holds two Guinness Book of World Records for the largest flags jumped from an airplane.
    • Landing last with the American flag is Dana Bowman, a veteran U.S. Army Sergeant First Class, having served as a Special Forces soldier and member of the Army parachute team, the Golden Knights. Bowman is a double amputee, who lost his legs in a mid-air collision during Golden Knights training.
  • Performing today’s NATIONAL ANTHEM are the marching bands of Headland High School in Headland, Ala., Lakewood Ranch High School in Bradenton, Fla., and Naples High School in Naples, Fla. The bands will march in the Military Bowl Parade and are in attendance today as part of the Box 5 Events National Music Festival at the Military Bowl. The giant flag will be unfurled by Northrop Grumman employee volunteers.
  • Today’s MILITARY BOWL FLYOVER will be performed by four T-38s from the U.S. Air Force.

TICKETS FOR TROOPS, which provided complimentary tickets for active-duty service members and their family members, is sponsored by Northrop Grumman; 3M; Dell Technologies; Future Tech Enterprise Inc.; and Perspecta.

Throughout the game at the Class of ’53 Pavilion at the north end of the stadium, Military Bowl sponsor 3M is holding PACK A PACK, where fans can assemble a gift pack with a personalized note to send to an active-duty service members.

Retrieving the kicking tee from today’s opening kickoff is 3M PLAY TO WIN AWARD WINNER Jayden Moore, an eighth-grader at Loyola Blakefield School in Towson, Md.

At midfield for the COIN TOSS will be Military Bowl Foundation President & Executive Director Steve Beck along with eight Recipients of the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military decoration presented for acts of valor in the face of enemy danger:

  • All eight Recipients in attendance today were presented the Medal of Honor for their actions in the Vietnam War: Doc Ballard, Barney Barnum, Tom Kelley, Joe Marm, Tommy Norris, Bob Patterson, Alfred Rascon, and Brian Thacker.
  • Medal of Honor Recipient Barney Barnum will perform the coin toss.

For every touchdown scored in today’s game, Coca-Cola Consolidated Incorporated will donate $500 to USO-Metro as part of the Coca-Cola SCORE FOR MORE promotion.

The ENLISTMENT CEREMONY following the first quarter will see 100 young men and women take an oath administered by U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Sean Buck, who is the superintendent of the United States Naval Academy.

During the second quarter, the WASHINGTON NATIONALS RACING PRESIDENTS will take the field for a special in-game race.

Seven championship teams from the ANNE ARUNDEL YOUTH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION accepted the Military Bowl’s invitation to participate in the Military Bowl Parade and receive complimentary tickets to today’s game. Welcome teams from the Bulldogs, Generals Highway Panthers, Severna Park Green Hornets, South Bowie Sharks, and Upper Queen Anne’s Lions.

The HALFTIME SHOW features the Marching Tar Heels, the Temple University Marching Band and the high school bands participating in the Box 5 Events National Music Festival at the Military Bowl.

During the third quarter, Navy Federal Credit Union will honor the NAVY FEDERAL ROTC STUDENTS OF THE YEAR: Air Force ROTC Cadet Charles Blum of N.C. State University, Army ROTC Cadet Nicole Butler of the University of Notre Dame; and Navy ROTC MIDN Jennifer Fillebrown of the University of Florida.

 

GAMEDAY TIMELINE

7 am: Stadium parking lots open.

9 am: Military Bowl Official Tailgate in the Blue parking lot on the west side of the stadium. Free admission: face painting, music, military displays, games and more. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Military personnel will receive complimentary coffee from Starbucks.

9 am: Military Bowl Parade begins at City Dock in downtown Annapolis and proceeds to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Led by the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales and featuring more than 70 youth, community and military-themed entries. Grand Marshal Miss America 2020 Camille Schrier. (Please be aware of road closures and heavy traffic between 9 to 10:30 am.)

10:30 am: Stadium gates open to the general public. Please note that the Military Bowl has a clear bags policy.

11 am: Medal of Honor/USO Reception, Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium N* Banquet Room. Moderated by Barney Barnum, Medal of Honor Recipient. Military Bowl Foundation will present a check to the USO. Invitation only.

11:30 am: Pregame Pageantry begins.

12:02 pm: Kickoff, Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman: North Carolina vs. Temple
