Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman announces continued partnership with the Atlantic Coast Conference

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman, benefiting the USO, today announced that it will continue its partnership with the Atlantic Coast Conference.  A partner of the bowl since its founding in 2008, the ACC will supply a team for the Military Bowl each year from 2014 through 2019, Military Bowl President & Executive Director Steve Beck announced.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the ACC, which has been with us since the beginning,” Beck said.  “When you look at the teams the ACC is adding, the strength and depth of the league is obvious. It is a no-brainer for the Military Bowl to continue its association with the ACC.”

The ACC will provide a team to the Military Bowl following its four pooled teams to the Sun, Pinstripe, Belk and Music City/Gator bowls.

“We are pleased to continue our partnership with the Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “The leadership at the Military Bowl does a first-class job in providing our teams and fans with a terrific postseason experience.”

The ACC representative will face a team from the American Athletic Conference at the game’s new home, Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.

Additionally, Beck announced that Northrop Grumman will continue as the Military Bowl’s title sponsor for the next three years.

“The Military Bowl serves as an excellent platform from which to support members of our Armed Forces and their families through the USO and a myriad of support services and organizations,” said Brandon R. “Randy” Belote, III, Northrop Grumman vice president, Strategic Communications.  “Northrop Grumman is pleased to continue to serve as the Military Bowl title sponsor and we look forward to a successful Bowl game at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis in December.”

The first five editions of the Washington-area’s bowl game were played at RFK Stadium. The 2013 game, matching teams from the ACC and Conference USA on Friday, Dec. 27, will be the first bowl game ever played in Annapolis. It will air nationally on ESPN.

“We look forward to hosting an ACC team this December and in each of the six following years,” Beck said. “The National Capital Area is a fantastic destination for fans, alumni and students, and we know our guests will have a first-rate experience cheering on their team.”
