DCTDC Golf Outing Is a Perfect Hit

DC TOUCHDOWN CLUB GOLF OUTING ENJOYS A PICTURE-PERFECT AFTERNOON
Capacity field posts plenty of low scores while raising funds and awareness for Patriot Point

As the players filtered into the clubhouse following the DC Touchdown Club Golf Outing, it was difficult to reach a consensus for what was the best of the day. Was it playing at one of the region’s top courses? Was it the chamber of commerce weather, with a partly cloudy sky and low humidity? Or was it the cause, knowing that the event benefits service members, their families and caregivers?

“All of the above!” Military Bowl Foundation President & Executive Director Steve Beck said. “What an incredible day. Thanks to everyone who helped make this such a rousing success, including sponsors, golfers, those who provided golf and raffle prizes and those who otherwise supported today’s efforts.”

The event benefited Patriot Point, the Military Bowl Foundation’s 294-acre retreat for wounded, ill and injured service members, their families and caregivers.

The field included former Washington Redskins linebacker Ravin Caldwell, several members of the Military Bowl Foundation Board of Directors and the DC Touchdown Club Executive Committee and several veterans.

Proceeds from the event benefit Patriot Point, which hosts hundreds of guests annually, at no cost to them. Patriot Point guests participate in events such as unit reunions, recovery retreats, hunting and fishing trips, and more, where they enjoy activities including kayaking, crabbing, paddle boarding, yoga and art therapy, among others in an attempt to forget about their everyday stress and continue their healing.

DC Touchdown Club Golf Outing sponsors included Gold Sponsor Cypress Real Estate Company; Silver Sponsors Legal Innovators and Nardi Construction; Post-Play Meal Sponsor Mission BBQ; Golf Ball Sponsor Dream Finders Homes; Contest Sponsor American Airlines; and Hole Sponsors American Athletic Conference, BFM Seaward LLC, Constellation Brands, Curtis Family Foundation, Defiant Whisky, Events DC, FCN Technology Solutions, Morgan Stanley – The Arcadia Group, the Naval Academy Athletic Association, Old Virginia Tobacco Company, Snapple and State & Liberty.

The foursome of Wayne Hudson, Jim Sullivan, Dom Anastasi and Josh Smith claimed first place with a score of 56 and chose a prize of Defiant Whisky and Whiskey Creek pro shop gift certificates.

“The camaraderie that is enjoyed at events like this is made possible by the men and women who are serving in uniform right now,” said Military Bowl Foundation board member James Ferguson, who began his career as a U.S. Marine Corps officer. “At each Military Bowl Foundation event, we reinforce the importance of those who serve and look to create new pathways to support them through programs at Patriot Point. It is an honor to be a part of this team.”

The Military Bowl Foundation’s next event is the Home of the Free … Because of the Brave dinner on Thursday, September 10, celebrating the kickoff of the NFL season in the company of recovering service members and caregivers from across the National Capital Region.
