MILITARY BOWL FOUNDATION TEAMS UP WITH POSITIVE CHOICES INC. AS HUNDREDS OF LOCAL YOUTHS TAKE THE FIELD AT 19TH ANNUAL YOUTH FOOTBALL CLINIC

Hundreds of local youths had the opportunity to learn from elite football players at the 19th annual Youth Football Clinic sponsored by the Military Bowl Foundation and organized by Positive Choices Inc. this past Saturday at Deanwood Recreation Center in Northeast Washington.

The clinic was free and open to children in first through eighth grades from throughout the National Capital Region.

Participants received expert on- and off-field training from NFL players and certified coaches as they focused on a variety of skills, from tackling and blocking to nutrition and conditioning.

“What an amazing day and opportunity for our children to connect with stars who are living out their football dreams,” said Positive Choices CEO Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, who is the assistant head coach and defensive backs coach at Boston College and led the clinic. “It is very refreshing and rewarding to see so many smiling faces as the youths challenge themselves and show their talents.”

More than one dozen NFL players, many who grew up locally or played college football in the area, worked the clinic, which included on-field skill work as well as motivational sessions following a complimentary lunch. Howard University football coach Larry Scott also joined the clinic.

“It was wonderful to have so many youths passing, catching, running, blocking and learning the finer points of football and competing,” Military Bowl Foundation President & Executive Director Steve Beck said. “The Military Bowl is a strong believer in supporting our local community and we are honored to work with Positive Choices and present this terrific opportunity for local youths.”

The Clinic was sponsored in part by Events DC and the DC Department of Parks and Recreation.
