Military Bowl Stays Green
The Military Bowl Foundation today announced that that Go Bowling Military Bowl once again will take significant conservation steps to produce an environmentally-friendly event.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Go Bowling Military Bowl will implement conservation efforts aimed at achieving zero waste in the Military Bowl Tailgate Festival prior to the game, as well as in hospitality areas throughout the event.
Last year, the Bowl collected more than 2.1 tons of waste that was converted into compost and recycled 2.68 tons of plastic and aluminum products. Caterers utilized compostable serving pieces and 22 volunteers supported the effort as cups, plates, utensils and napkins made from plant-based materials were collected for composting by Veteran Compost.
This year, Refill Goodness will oversee the Bowl’s sustainability and waste diversion efforts in alignment with Annapolis Green’s Bay Responsible guidelines. Refill Goodness will provide on-site guidance and best practices to ensure proper waste sorting, minimize contamination and support composting and recycling initiatives throughout the Tailgate Festival and hospitality areas, further strengthening the event’s commitment to environmental stewardship in the Chesapeake Bay region.
“In addition to honoring and supporting our nation’s active-duty and veteran service members, the Go Bowling Military Bowl knows the importance of being a responsible member of its community,” Military Bowl President & Executive Director Steve Beck said. “We thank all of our recycling and composting partners and look forward to once again being a leader in sustainability.”
