Military Bowl, U.S. Chamber and Washington Nationals to host Hiring Our Heroes Job Fair
Washington, D.C.—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s National Chamber Foundation and the Washington Nationals, along with lead sponsors Capital One and the Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman, will host “Hiring Our Heroes – Washington, D.C.,” a hiring fair for veterans and military spouses. U.S. Chamber President & CEO Tom Donohue and Nationals Vice President & Managing Director for Communications Lara Potter will be among those welcoming the fair’s attendees. Also, in a rare public appearance together, the nation’s top military spouses, including all of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Combatant Commanders will attend as part of their annual conference.
More than 75 employers are expected to participate with jobs available for veterans and military spouses of all ranks and levels of experience. Companies range from America’s biggest employers to small companies from across the region. There will also be a series of career-building presentations for attending military spouses through the Hiring Our Heroes Military Spouse Business Alliance. This event will supplement the Nationals’ extensive military outreach, which in 2012 included visits to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and various gameday patriotic programs such as the In-Game Military Salute and the “Me and a Friend” initiative.
Since its launch in March 2011, Hiring Our Heroes has held more than 370 hiring fairs nationwide, helping 14,100 veterans and military spouses find employment. This fair is also part of Hiring 500,000 Heroes, a national campaign announced by the U.S. Chamber, National Chamber Foundation, and Capital One, to engage the business community in committing to hire 500,000 veterans and military spouses by the end of 2014.
